I honestly think flying in and out of Mammoth is the best and most hassle free way to do the Muir Trail if you are coming from a location outside California. Fly in and out from the Eastern Sierra's only commercial airport with regularly scheduled flights from major airlines and get shuttled to and from the John Muir Trailheads by an experienced driver with encyclopedic knowledge of the area whose goal is to help you enjoy your adventure!
